How does a therapy blanket work?

The weight of a weighted blanket creates deep pressure and has a relaxing effect. This is because this pressure stimulates the release of the happiness hormone serotonin and at the same time lowers the stress hormone cortisol. This gives the blanket a feeling of security and physical relaxation and helps the user to fall asleep faster and more calmly. The SensoLife therapy blankets help with stress, anxiety and sleep disorders as well as developmental disorders such as ADHD, Down syndrome, Asperger syndrome, autism as well as burnout, bulimia and anorexia.

How can you enjoy your therapy blanket undisturbed?

A therapy blanket is usually custom-made for you. As a result, it may not have the desired effect on someone else. Think carefully about the choice of blanket weight and adjust it to your body weight and expectations.

Buying a therapy blanket

Therapy blankets are often used in therapeutic practices that provide SI therapy, but are also very suitable for home use. Our blankets are based on body weight or recommendations from your therapist. If you have not received a recommendation from a therapist, the standard rule is 10% - 25% of your own body weight.

Tip. The SensoLife therapy blankets can also be a nice bed decoration or a great gift idea!

Is it safe to use a weighted blanket?

It is perfectly safe to sleep under a weighted blanket, in fact it is increasingly recommended by therapists and doctors. However, the blanket must be adjusted to the right weight and used correctly.

First of all, children up to the age of two should not use a weighted blanket, but better a weighted sleeping bag. These children do not yet have the muscle skills to instinctively remove the heavy blanket.

Secondly, children should not use a weighted blanket for adults. The child must be able to remove the weighted blanket independently and without help.

Thirdly, no one should be forced to use a weighted blanket. In this case, the weighted blanket has a negative effect. This is of course the opposite of what we want to achieve.
